Airbag Repairs – Paisley

Why has my car’s airbag light come on?

The most common reason for the airbag light coming on is that you’ve turned the car on; it should automatically go off after a few seconds, but if it doesn’t, you can try turning the car off and then back on again, as this is often enough to reset the light. If you do that and the light remains illuminated, then this indicates that there’s an issue that will probably need to be resolved by a trained mechanic, such as the team at Reids Garage.

Can I drive if the airbag light is on?

Technically, it’s not illegal to drive with the airbag light illuminated, but it’s certainly not recommended, as its whole purpose is to keep you safe. Driving with the airbag light on could also invalidate your insurance if it fails to deploy in an accident. The safest thing to do is to get in touch with Reids Garage so that we can diagnose the cause of the light being on and get it resolved for you. We’ve invested in advanced diagnostic software, which means our investigations can be concluded rapidly and accurately, getting back on the road with minimum inconvenience.

Will my car fail its MOT test if the airbag light is on?

The airbag system is one of the most important in your vehicle, and if the light is on, your vehicle will not pass its MOT test. If your MOT test is due and the airbag light is on, give us a call today so that we can sort that out for you.
